Sometimes a little miracle enters your life and changes your world forever. My miracle happened at the beginning of 2020. Kikki the chihuahua entered my world at the start of COVID, when all of a sudden I moved location and was working from a new home.
This little girl is deaf and blind. I noticed she just sat in the corner and slept all day. She had no idea if anybody was around. She looked sad and it made me feel sad. From that moment on I learnt to communicate with her and created fun ways to play with her. I set up areas outside so she could sense by touch, where she was. So all of a sudden this little girl is out running around living her best life. It didn’t take long before we formed an unbreakable connection.
The thing is, not only did she spring back to life, but she brought soo much love and joy into my world. I like to think that we both needed each other and we have both changed each others’ world.
She is my inspiration. You see, many humans in her situation might think “I can’t see, I can’t hear” and be miserable about that reality. Kikki shows every day that although she is deaf and she is blind, she still wags her tail with joy, bounces around the backyard like a bunny rabbit and loves with no end.
Life can present any situation to anyone. The truth is, when we accept the situation at hand, only then do we have the power to make the most out of each moment. Life “Ain’t bad” it “just is”. I am reminded of this daily from Kikki and from other amazing humans who I meet. Accept how things are, and make your life amazing!
