“Do It Anyway. Do It Now.”

If I could have stolen it for our own swag I would have! It’s a cornerstone success principle.

My wife and biz partner the amazing Ann Sheybani, and I, are ultra-distance runners. We train.  A lot.

But here’s the rub: We like to run. But rarely do we “feel” like running. The fact that we live in Ireland where it rains A LOT doesn’t add incentive.

So we have a rule: We never, ever ask each other, “Do you feel like running today?” Because the answer would almost always be, “no.”

Which means, “Do It Anyway. Do It Now.”

Most folks think that they need to be motivated to take action.

But…motivation is elusive and fleeting.

What’s true is that motivation often arises after you’re in action.

For us, the hardest part of a run is lacing up the shoes and opening up the door. But after a mile or so, the muscles loosen up and the air flows into the lungs and everything feels possible.

Because we did it anyway.
